If you have expertise with any subject, please post it here. If any members have a problem or question in that area, then they can place a post here asking for assistance. Everyone just keep in mind that anyone who offers advice is simply trying to help, and always consult a professional in the field you need help in, and that no one is liable for any advice they give in a helpful manner. I myself like working on autos and trucks, and have worked in mechanical repair shops and body shops, so if you have car trouble, maybe I can steer (pun intended) you in the right direction. Feel free to inquire.

Come on, I'm always up for a challenge. Is your car/truck acting funny? Check engine light on? Making funny noises? Gas mileage dropping? Pulls to one side or the other? Brakes squeak? Surely you can think of something! Alright....I have a 1989 4wd chevyblazer 4.3l w/throttlebody carb. The injectors spray, but they also drip gas and seem to flood my carb. So I bought a kit, and installed it. Some improvement, runs better. One side sprays real good, but the other side still has drip. The paper in the carbkit says do not try and rod out the injector tip with wire or clean it with any solvent. Do I need to replace the injector? Can I get them at Autozone? -GOBIGORANGE |

OK, the throttle body injection is like a carburetor with an electric fuel pump, basically. If one is not spraying as it should and is also leaking, I would replace it as it sounds like it might be a combination of being clogged badly and an O-ring/gasket seal problem. I don't know if they're available at an auto parts store, but I would guess they should be, as I've never replaced one. I've had a couple of throttle injected vehicles before, but never had a leakage problem. Once you do get it fixed, I would suggest using a high quality fuel injector cleaner at each oil change. It really does keep them clean, and it's relatively inexpensive ($5.00 to $10.00), and you just dump it into the gas tank, and it does the rest. Make sure you have at least 3/4 of a tank of fuel before you pour it into the tank. Let me know how you make out.

Another question, same vehicle, 5 speed stick. Going dow the road the other day 5th gear just quit pulling. No noise, the shifter didn't jump out, just quit pulling. All other gears pull fine, even reverse. But shift into 5th and gas it, zoom, no load on the motor. No grinding noise, nothing. It just acts like it's never going into 5th gear. Never had any problem before, it just suddenly quit pulling. It drives and shifts fine thru 4th gear, but driving it in 4th puts too much of an RPM demand on the motor. Floor shifter, no linkage...
Man, I hope I dont have to get a new tranny... |

I'm good at listening to other people's problems and giving advice. I'm a good problem solver, most of the time.
